Michael Matzke joined Prairie Engineers in 2015 and serves as a Civil Engineer, Land Surveyor, and Quality Control Officer. He has over 44 years of experience as a consulting civil engineer and has extensive experience in all aspects of planning and design for streets, highways and freeways. Mike’s surveying experience includes topographical surveys, route surveys, right-of-way and boundary surveys, control surveys, hydraulic and bridge surveys, and mapping development using Microstation/Geopak. He has additionally served as the QA/QC lead for numerous survey and highway deliverables for IDOT projects throughout Illinois and for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority. He has also been involved with several site development projects in Illinois and surrounding states. Mike is a registered Professional Engineer in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Florida. He is a registered Professional Land Surveyor in Illinois and Iowa. Mike graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 1975.
Mike and his wife Marsha, a retired school teacher, live in Springfield, Illinois and have been married for over 43 years (High School sweethearts from Nokomis, Illinois). They are the proud parents of three children, all married, with five grandchildren. Mike and his wife enjoy doing things with the grandkids, traveling, going to Cardinal games, and serving on various church boards and committees. In his spare time, Mike enjoys working on home projects and woodworking.
